Welcome to Vision148 – An Audacious Moon shot

This is a tale about a car, people and technology and an audacious moon shot idea.

It’s about determination to follow a passion that has lead to an exciting project we call Vision148.

If my career was a movie then it would have 4 acts to it, Act One an ENGINEER, Act Two was CORPORATE FINANCE, Act Three as a START UP FOUNDER, and so onto Act Four… MY LEGACY… It’s fair to say that I’m a car nut and I have loved evolving BIG ideas around cars, not all have reached their potential for a range of reasons but each project has seemingly lead to this opportunity.

Simply we intend to restore, re-imagine and rebuild Number 148 of the 500 Sierra Cosworth RS500’s built and to give it a modern second life. 148 will be a one-of-one carbon bodied lightweight RS500 that we have called the Carbon Piranha.

The RS500 is already an iconic car and our plans are audacious and be a bit bonkers for some fans, but our viewpoint is to give fans the chance to see the RS500 differently, with a modern eye, even those who weren’t born when the car was originally produced but have a connection with cars and modern ideas This is not a car that I am building in a shed in my garden it’s about working with super talented partners, sponsors and fans and embracing digital manufacturing technology.

Thinking big needs relationships and I’ve worked with amazingly talented and cool people through my career and now is the time to bring these stars to Vision148, and that is what we are doing. At the heart of the project will be collaborations with partners and our fans to help this vision come to life.

We are not the first to build a car or a company around an automotive icon from the recent past but we intend to challenge the way this type of project is done. We are shifting gears to do things a bit different and leaning in to adopting new and progressive ideas by testing novel ways to maximise the digital opportunities out there including manufacturing, funding and supply chain, combined with full transparency of the build for fan interaction and a unique ownership opportunity of the finished car.

As part of the project we will showcase and plant the seeds to the amazing opportunities that exist in digital manufacturing specifically to inspire young people to explore the incredible possibilities   We also intend to adopt as many ideas and processes for recycling and sustainability… It will be tough and carbon isn’t the most sustainable material but there are new ways to use carbon waste that we intend to showcase this.

So, the evolution of this project is a result of many years of experience and learning, but more recently eight months of intense defining and project evolution to now being able to announce our intensions.

As what I haven’t mentioned yet is that someone could win the finished car and we will be announcing how you can be a special part of this project by owning the Carbon Piranha, could it be you? So sign up for our newsletter follow on Instagram to keep an eye out for announcements.

We think this will be fun.
