So why reimagine the RS500, it is a pretty cool car already?
Well, we just wanted to see it differently and through the eyes of a younger generation even those who weren’t born when the car was launched.
There are many restomod versions of classic and iconic cars and some very successful brands have emerged.Singer for example, an amazing business born out of the love of the 911and their re-imagination of the iconic car has created a super exclusive client base and market place.Equally with todays manufacturing technologies bespoke low volume and one off cars can be created, at a price of course, but clients can have something absolutely unique…
This market has interested us for a while and discussions with partners has drawn us to doing something a little different…We could have opted for another 911 upgrade or former Group B rally car but we have decided on fast Fords and in particular the RS500 a car with presence, the whale tail, the bonnet snorts and stance on its wheels. The RS Cosworth is a blue-collar hero with a big fan base and it has fantastic road and track history to boot…
When we first decided this was the way to go, we asked ourselves a few questions that would help us reimagine this car into something very special…Including what animal the RS500 might be and we thought it might be a piranha, snapping away, nimble and unpredictable… hence the Piranha! If it were a gesture it would be two fingers.
And if Darth Vader had a car this is what he would drive!Of course the RS500 is a rare beast but fortunately we have secured an original of the 500, number 148 which will act as the donor.Oh yes, and the car will be fully carbon bodied!Welcome to the Carbon Piranha!
